US employees are feeling more personally accountable for their own financial future, according to key findings from the 2011 Mercer Workplace Survey™. In fact, despite having a largely negative economic outlook, more employees than in past years reported stepping up their retirement planning activity.
“Based on the survey’s results, we believe many employees have given up on a broad economic recovery to boost their account values and have decided to take matters into their own hands,” says Suzanne Nolan, Director of Marketing and Communications for Mercer’s US Outsourcing business.
“To build on this pronounced increase in participant involvement, Mercer recently launched a new online program called My Retirement Workshop,” she adds. “The do-it-yourself themed website provides engaging education, interactive tools and action-oriented resources to support employees as they plan for their retirement.”
