Company car benefits represent a key component of the compensation package that employers offer in recruiting and retaining the best talent – especially at the executive and management levels and for sales professionals. Mercer’s 2012 International Car Policies report covers company car policies and related information in 83 countries.
“A majority of large companies around the world provide company cars for business use and as part of the benefits package for key employees,” says Niklaus Kobel, a Mercer research analyst. “In many countries, it is an expected perquisite.”
“Quite a few countries allow tax concessions for company car benefits, which makes it effective for employers,” he adds. “Rising fuel prices also add to the popularity of this benefit, as employers in most countries cover these costs.”
